We moved to blogger!!!!!!!

Posted in Uncategorized by Mo on December 23, 2008

First things first. Here’s our new address: 455scottsdale.blogspot.com

At 455 Scottsdale, we are firm believers form should always come before function; especially when there is no function. We also believe you should never have to pay for anything on the internet; or pay for the internet itself, which is why we steal wireless from our neighbors. Therefore, instead of paying 15$ a year for the custom CSS (that’s fancy pants talk for changing colors and fonts on your page), we moved to blogger. Blogger, following the blog host detente treaty of 2005, does not allow WordPress blogs to be imported. So all the old posts are only available here. But if the RIAA and Google continue their MP3 hunt, we might be back on WordPress soon enough.

Check out our new blog layout, after the jump!!

Thieves Like Us / Voleurs Comme Nous

Posted in Uncategorized by Mo on December 8, 2008

455 Scottsdale loves Thieves Like Us. An American-Swedish techno trio currently based out of Paris, these guys are pure class in everything they do. Over the past week I’ve seen the Drugs in My Body video like 100 times:

Desire is my favorite:

Headlong into Night:

If you’re not in an “heavy, 80’s euro-cinema in your basement” mood, here are some fun Thieves remixes:

Drugs in my Body – Thieves Like Us (The Twelves remix)

(The Twelves could turn funeral music into a hot discotheque jam)

Drugs in My Body – Thieves Like Us (Just a Band remix)

You know what really grinds my gears? MALL KIDz

I fucking hate Mall Kids. I happen to be fortunate enough to live across from the mall.. it’s great for the most part. Clothes, food court, a drug store… a bunch of ill-shit. The only problem about living by a mall in Guelph, Ontario is the fact that it is littered with degenerate teenagers who would rather be hanging out by the bus stop smoking Craven A cigarettes, talking to each other how many kids they’ve already had by the tender age of 15. These kids should be in english class at 10 am learning shit like how to be literate, moderately responsible human beings. I guess it’s not all their fault, its hard to be destined to greatness when your mothers daily agenda while she was carrying you for those 9 months was: wake up at 1pm, watch Maury Povich, drink 10 James Ready 5.5, watch Jerry Springer, smoke 35 cigarettes, eat macdonalds, drink another 10 James Ready 5.5, pass out. As for a father figure.. well generally there isn’t one present, but if there is, while he’s not working part-time at the Esso gas bar he’s hitting bongs with his buddy he met at a drug addiction center.

Some things you might hear at a mall-kids family dinner:

“Hey mom, I just got my period!” Mom: ” Good, Now go GET PREGNANT”

“Hey Timmy, go fetch your old man some bacon chips and a bottle of Jack Daniels.. my feet are sore from bowling and your mother is busy upstairs making love to your Uncle Ray”

I think I’m going to write the Prime Minister Steven harper, suggest operation “Mall Sweep” collecting all the kids hanging out at malls and ship them to… Algeria.

New Lonely Island banger: Jizz in my pants!!

Posted in Uncategorized by Mo on December 7, 2008

A new Lonely Island song debued on SNL last night. John Malkovitch did a pretty good job hosting. And there was a cool (pun intended 4 sure) Barack Obama skit (there aren’t any good clips up online yet except on Hulu, which is only available in the States).

Another hot jam from the Lonely Island boys before Samberg went Hollywood:

And let’s not forget ‘The Bu.

The bro-bag cycle

Posted in Uncategorized by Mo on December 7, 2008

Business, like fashion, is cyclical. Many have studied this, including Karl Marx and his boom-bust cycle which does a really good job of explaining the current macro-economic condition (FUBAR-nomics). But on a more micro level, I propose my theory of the bro-bag cycle.  I thought up the bro-bag cycle after watching Mean Girls. Let’s say Lindsay Lohan is a company (in a post-modern sense, she is a company but that’s for another post). In the movie she is a cool chick who makes interesting alternative (ie. unpopular) friends. But then she becomes popular and turns into a total biatch. Then she like totally loses all her friends and only once she has lost it all does she re-become a cool chick and shed her mainstream-bag reptilian skin.

Companies go through the same thing. This is the bro-bag cycle. Early in a company’s life, it is super innovative and cool and filled with alt-employees who are doing super meaningful work and coming into work at “whatever-time-you-want-so-long-as-you-get-your-work-done”. Nike is the classic case study of the bro-bag cycle:

alt-cycle-nike

Which brings me to Apple and Microsoft. Apple is currently at the top of the cycle and is a corp-bro, Microsoft is at the bottom and is a corp-bag. But they are about to switch places (like in Freaky Friday): Apple is becoming a total bag and Microsoft is becoming a bro.

Why Apple is becoming a bag:

1- Lying in their advertising and blaming consumers for being dumb enough to believe them

2-Making people’s itunes purchases and monitors obsolete so the RIAA and MPAA can get Arab money (as opposed to just Jewish lawyer money)

3-Not letting me download my own music from my iPod to my computer

Why Microsoft is becoming a bro:

1- It is releasing a clothing line (Softwear), taking people back to Microsoft’s 80’s roots (geek chic?)

2- It is trying its hardest to fix Vista (like when drunk bros get totally wasted and try to make out with their hottest friend and the next day are all like “let’s go for breakfast at Eggcetera; I was totally wasted and on E, no biggie”

3-Microsoft makes Xbox (although this also makes them bags but we keep getting the death rings)

Speaking of Microsoft’s clothing line, I know it’s still in its infancy but I feel they are missing a t-shirt:

The Cleve has everything to offer me.. Larry flint strip club, Sports teams, Rock and Roll hall of fame, Papa John’s Pizza.. and did I mention it’s a beautiful city? I was there two years ago in the summer, I took a picture:

Cleveland

On a seperate note, I’ve decided to add a segment to this blog called “‘Dis’ nigga be sayin what?”, a word of the week for all you fellas and pretty ladies out there looking to expand your ghetto vocabulary. I will post this wordly delicatessen once a week (Saturday) While I watch the Toronto Maple Leafs loose on television.

This weeks word is:

The fear that your brother or good friend will be or is a homosexual.
Ex: Pauls trippin’ with homobrophobia ’cause of his roomate Mo watches The Hills.
Some chill Hip-Hop to jam out on for this beautiful and snowy winters eve:

I think I’ve been reading too much Hispsterrunoff lately, ’cause times have got me down and it helps cheer me up. What’s got me down you might ask? Well to start, in the last week I’ve been taking more drugs then 1999 Robert Downey Jr. at a columbian drug-dealers bachelor party for a problem that is still undiagnosed. I’ve nourished myself on multi-vitamins, booster juice and Cheetos just to keep me going. When I look outside, it looks like this:

Oh, have I mentioned I’ve been busy with finals? I wish school was more like saved by the Bell.. I like Zack Morris, he got to stick Kelly Kapawski; she was the hottest. I bet those guys got so much ass from that show. Heck, even the dork and principal are way more action then I’ll ever see. When Screech isn’t busy trying to loose weight on Celebrity Fit Club, he’s making sex tapes. Mr. Belding’s no slouch either. When he’s not principiling at Bayside, he’s doing 20 year olds in Vegas.

On a brighter note, I think I’m going to a party tonight, that should lighten things up a little for me. Maybe If I’m lucky I’ll be able to kiss a girl. Last time I made out with a girl at a party, I got strep throat. I hate strep throat. The only thing that’s worse then strep throat is toxic mold in your lungs..sigh..

I guess I should introduce myself EH? My name is Paul but friends call me NightHawk. I go to University and have a on-and-off crystal meth addiction (I don’t tell my roomates because I’ve slowly been stealing from them to finance my addiction). My favourite band is Nickleback..OMG CHAD KRUGER IS SO HOT!!! .. but the other two guys who post on this blog won’t let me post his tracks. I figure I should post something, check this out:
